Terms
What you are agreeing to, in words you can actually read.
This page says what Pro Se Companions does, what it refuses to do, and what that means for you. It is written to be understood rather than to be survived.
This is a plain-language summary, not the final legal document. A full terms of service reviewed by a licensed attorney is being prepared and will replace this page before launch. Everything below is accurate about how the product behaves today.
What this service is
Pro Se Companions helps people who are representing themselves understand court documents, organize a case, and prepare filings. It explains, organizes, and drafts from material you give it.
It is a tool, not a person, and not a firm. Nothing here creates a relationship of any kind between you and a lawyer.
What it is not
We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. Under every state's rules on the unauthorized practice of law, only a licensed attorney can advise you about your specific case.
Where a decision needs legal judgment, the product is built to stop and say so rather than guess. Every explanation is educational. Every document is a starting point that you own, edit, and sign.
We do not file anything with any court on your behalf. You file it yourself, and we tell you how.
What we will not do with what you write
Your documents and your case narrative are yours. They are stored separately per person and enforced at the database, not just in the interface.
We do not sell your data and we do not advertise inside the workspace.
Accuracy, and its limits
Every legal citation is checked against a real legal database before it appears in anything you read. If it cannot be confirmed, it is left out rather than invented.
Facts we do not have are flagged for you, never filled in. That makes the product slower than one willing to guess, and it is the only version of this worth using.
It does not make the product infallible. Read what it produces before you rely on it, and take anything consequential to a licensed attorney.
Paying for it
The trial is free and time-limited. When it ends your case stays readable and nothing new can be added until you subscribe.
Preparing court documents is included in your plan, up to the allowance shown on the pricing page. There is no separate fee for a document and no credits.
Something here unclear, or something you think is wrong? Tell us. We would rather fix the wording than have you guess at it.
